The application deadline is February 1 for the Talent on Tap scholarship, organized by City Brew Tours. The scholarship supports education for women of color who want to make positive changes to the beer industry. That education could include brewing training, beer-service certification, or related programs in brewing or hospitality.

City Brew Tours, which organizes brewery tours and other beer experiences in 15 North American cities, says its goal with the scholarship is to help the industry become more diverse and safer for woman of all backgrounds.

“We have learned a lot about the craft beer industry in the past year, and how it is not always a safe and welcoming environment for women and people of color,” says Chad Brodsky, founder and CEO of City Brew Tours. “We can and must do better.”

This is the scholarship’s second year. In 2021 there were three recipients: Razia Gonzales, Gloria Rakowsky, and Naomi Waltengus. Waltengus used the funds to pursue Prud’homme Beer Certification, while Gonzales and Rakowski put theirs toward advancement in the Cicerone program.

More information about Talent on Tap and an application form are available on the City Brew Tours website.
