Newly published data from a 2022 anonymous survey conducted by Infinite Ingredient—a nonprofit with a mission to actively support the mental and physical well-being of people working in the craft-beverage industry—show striking evidence of burnout across every sector of the brewing world. Using the Maslach Burnout Inventory, they measured three components of burnout: occupational exhaustion, depersonalization/loss of empathy, and personal accomplishment. They found that 100 percent of respondents indicated a high degree of burnout across all three categories.
Here, we’ve excerpted one violin plot that shows level of exhaustion based on role in the brewery.
