Every year, hop firm BarthHass compiles an overview report on hop production around the world, noting regional trends, production impacts, and more. As we read the report, we were struck by the increasingly global nature of hops and how much is grown where. Some things were surprising—we would not have guessed that Spain and France each produced more hops than England, that hop production in the Czech Republic jumped so much from 2020 to 2021, or that New Zealand produced more hops than Australia. The chart below shows hop production in metric tons for 2020 and 2021, but it’s limited to those countries that produced more than 100 metric tons.
